Brett Burnett

Once people meet Brett and talk with him they are inspired with confidence and trust in his abilities. Recently Brett and his team completed a project for Texas Department of Public Safety that is responsible for over 300 million dollars in annual transactions, and is the second largest revenue center for the state of Texas. A system of this scope has very high security and performance requirements that in Texas' case the original vendor failed to meet. BearingPoint turned to Brett as a proven expert to re-start the project and get back on track. Brett applied software best practices as well as his extensive experience to complete the project and pass two of the industry's most important audits, the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard and the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Top 10 Security Vulnerabilities. When organizations are faced with difficult problems like security, performance, hardware and process planning, or technical training they trust in Brett and his experience to provide guidance and solutions.

Brett always tells the team that BHW owes its success to our clients. We built our business delivering best-of-breed solutions to our clients, and they in their unwavering support and belief in our abilities and results referred us to their business partners, customers, and networks.

Before founding BHW Group, Brett had a long career in software development and entrepreneurship. In late 2000 Brett created a software company with his long term colleague, Jason Hodges. Funded by local-Austin venture capital, id5 Solutions specialized in web-based catalog systems. id5 operated for nearly three years and was acquired by a local Austin company.

In the early stages of his career Brett worked for Austin-based Trilogy Development Group where he joined some of the most highly recruited individuals in computer science. At Trilogy, Brett was selected to be one of the first twelve people to create a spin-off company, pcOrder.com. Brett worked in many capacities in pcOrder from product development, consulting, business analysis, and training. Whatever the situation called for, pcOrder relied on Brett to deliver. Brett experienced the excitement first-hand of growing the company to over 200 people, completing an initial public offering (IPO) and becoming a publicly traded company in 1999.

As a native Texan and alumnus of The University of Texas at Austin, Brett has lived and worked in central Texas for over eighteen years. Brett is married to his wife of seven years, Amy, and has two wonderful children.
